One, 4-Pack of Beer

(60 seconds) Do you know why I love buying habits like this? Because it’s such a stark reminder that life can be simple if I let it.

Matthew 6:34

34 “So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

I love it when I see a man walk out of a grocery store with one thing. One thing.

Y’all, like, how? How does a person walk through an entire HEB grocery store and only buy ONE thing?! Last weekend I saw two guys walking out at the same time—one with a four-pack of beer and one with a single tissue box. I can’t make this up! I didn’t even know you could buy a four-pack of beer.

You’re right, I’m being judgmental and sexist by giggling over their buying habits. But do you know why I love it?

Because it’s such a stark reminder that life can be that simple if I let it.

I was confirmed in a small Lutheran church when I was thirteen. Freakishly tall, full teeth braces, and some leftover baby fat, I was terrified when I learned that confirmation looked like me getting up in front of the entire congregation and talking about my favorite bible verse.

😬

My mind raced over all the options. Matthew 6:34 is the one I picked.

Because it’s such a stark reminder that life can be that simple if I let go and let God.

“Today’s trouble is enough for today,” mama. It’s so hard with littles to not worry about every single thing in their future, from the next time they need food to the next school they attend. God reminds us that He’s got it. He hasn’t let your child down yet, and He never will. He hasn’t let you down yet, and He never will. Focus on today. Let God take your tomorrow until you get there to walk with Him through it.
