Buc-ee's

(60 seconds) If you look to the world for inspiration, you will not find it.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I missed writing something last week because I just couldn't put my finger on anything God was really showing or teaching me. I was not inspired.

The distraction of a (much beloved) last summer vacation and the prep for school start did nothing to focus me. The longer I went without an idea, the more I began to doubt my ability to write anything of value. The lies seeped in.

And then I went to Buc-ee's.

For those of you who do not know Buc-ee's, let me elaborate…

Buc-ee's is like the Costco of gas stations. Everything is big. Everything is jolly. There is room for all vehicle and personality types in this concrete, refill haven.

Whilst perusing the women’s and home goods sections, I came upon many a bible verse. This little wall piece was one of them (pic below). As each coffee cup, plate, t-shirt, necklace, and hat reflected Jesus’s words back to me, I thought: “Why was I waiting to be inspired!?”

Friends… the Bible IS inspiration. If you turn to the world for it, you won’t find anything but false idols. True grounding, purpose, and calling comes from this living book.

I still don't have any big words for you, really. My mind is a mess juggling travel, work, and school start. I'm sticking to the sanity-basics this week (courtesy of Buc-ee's) and I pray you give yourself the grace to do the same.

I needed Romans 8 this week. Which one do you need?

You are...

Beautiful - Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

Victorious - Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Created - Genesis 1:31

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Always Loved - Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Amazing - Psalm 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

4 For we know, brothers and sisters[a] loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5 because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
