Moms Don't Quit

(30 seconds) When your strength runs out and the only thing left holding you upright is the love you have for your babies, remember: Jesus endured it all so you could endure it all.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

There are days when motherhood feels like an uphill climb with no end in sight. It can be kind of grueling, actually.

Some days the sun rises and it feels like nothing else will. There are days I have thought, "Motherhood doesn't feel the way I thought it would."

It’s not the lack of love that interrupts my “vision” of what motherhood would be like. It’s the abundance of it. The love I have for my kids scares me. It's so deep and so sure, serving it sometimes costs everything.

This empty-jar feeling reminds me so much of how I imagine Jesus felt carrying his cross. I think of how much he really disliked being human in that moment. He could have stopped his chore. But he didn't quit because his love for us is so deep. And neither will you, Mom.

When your strength runs out and the only thing left holding you upright is the love you have for your babies, remember: Jesus endured it all so you could endure it all.

You got this.
