Self

(30 seconds) The line between confidence and humbleness as a Christian woman is a thin one, especially in a world that preaches self-made, self-care, self confidence.

Deuteronomy 8:18

18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

The line between confidence and humbleness as a Christian woman is a thin one, especially in a world that preaches self-made, self-care, self confidence…

I came across this passage in Deuteronomy a few weeks ago and it struck a chord I’ve been strumming in my brain since.

If God gives us the power to make our wealth (and I mean wealth of all kinds: finance, health, relationships, etc.), can we be both confident and humble at the same time? Can we be confident in our ability to listen to God’s will for our lives, confident we can fill the shoes God created for us, and then humble in our successes because we know it would have otherwise been impossible without our Father’s hand?

As long as we’re clear where our help comes from, we can be confident that He will be there always.

Mom, if you’re sitting there today wondering if you can do something big. Something that feels hard. Something emotional. Something God is asking of you or created for you, you don’t need self-care or self confidence. You just need to trust that God’s there with you. If it’s from God, he’ll carry you through it.

When fear tries to keep me small, God makes me strong. Failure is the easy option; confidence in my faith is the brave one. Because at the end of every day, good or bad, I am still a child of God. So why not live like my God’s walking before me, every step I make?

There is freedom waiting for you,

On the breezes of the sky,

And you ask "What if I fall?"

“Oh, but my darling, What if you fly?"
